— Catcher’s clinic

Batter Up of Bentonville will host a Catcher’s Clinic from 4 p.m.-7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 1, at the indoor facility.

Participants will learn the secrets to being a great catcher by coach Mike Rose.

Rose is a professional baseball player who was originally drafted by the Houston Astros in the fifth round of the 1995 draft. More recently, Rose played on the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization.

All participants will receive a special autographed ball by Rose.

Cost for the clinic is $55. The facility is located at 1301 N. Walton Blvd., Suite 3, next to Aspire Gymnastics.

NWA Drillers tryouts

NWA Drillers 10AA baseball team is holding tryouts for the spring 2010 season. Players cannot turn 11 before April 30, 2010. The Drillers will play a full competitive schedule in the spring.

The team’s focus will be developing baseball players with the fundamentals of the game. Coaches are looking for players who have a love for the game and the desire to be better with the goal of reaching AAA ball by the end of the season.

Arkansas Scorpions Baseball Inc., is seeking players for the 2010 season. Players can’t be 14 before May 1, 2010. A couple of players for both the 13 Major Arkansas Scorpions and 13 AAA Arkansas Sting. Thunder tryouts

The NWA Thunder baseball team will be having a tryout on Nov. 8. Players who have not turned 14 by May 1, 2010 and are interested in playing competitive baseball should attend the tryout. For more information, please contact Marc Bryant at (479) 366-2752.

Youth basketball registration

Registration for the Rogers Community-School Recreation Association youth basketball program is currently being taken at the Rogers Activity Center and online at www.rogersarkansas.com/parks . Programs are open to boys and girls grades kindergarten to twelve.

• Kindergarten and first grade: Lil’ Hoopsters Instructional Class. Cost for registration is $40*. Registration will be taken through Jan. 4 and the class begins Jan. 9.

• Grades 2-5: Youth recreational league, focusing on fundamentals and player participation. Cost for registration is $50*. Registration will be taken through Nov. 13.

• Grades 6-8: Competitive middle school league. Cost for registration is $50*. Registration will be taken through Nov. 13.

• Grade 9-12: New 3-on-3 High School Basketball League. Cost for registration is $50*. Registration will be taken through Dec. 14. Players sign up individually and form their own teams.

* RAC membership required.

The Northwest Arkansas Wrestling Club (formerly Bentonville Youth Wrestling) will conduct in-person registrations Thursday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m. at Barker Middle School in Bentonville.

Children ages 5 and up may join the club. The cost is $65 per wrestler and includes one pair of shorts and one T-shirt. Additional uniforms and sweats will be offered at an additional cost again this season.

Wrestlers are required to bring shoes and headgear. Wrestlers are also required to register with USA Wrestling.

Registrations will continue through the month of October and are due by Nov. 2. Practices begin Nov. 5 at Barker Middle School.

Practices will begin Nov. 5 and will be held on Mondays and Thursdays for all wrestlers (6-8 p.m. for older wrestlers and 6-6:45 p.m. for wrestlers ages 6 and under). There will also be a Tuesday practice for experienced wrestlers.
