ROGERS Powell named to honor roll
Subiaco Academy announces that Nicholas Powell, son of Dave and Julie Powell of Rogers, made the first quarter honor roll of the 2009-2010 academic year.
To be on the honor roll, a student must achieve agrade point average of 93 percent or better with a minimum grade of 85 percent in each course.In addition, the student mustdemonstrate good character and respect for the rules of the Academy by receiving satisfactory ratings in conduct and application, and be considered by the administration to be a responsible member of the community both in and out of the classroom.
SPOTLIGHTRogers Art Guild Fall Art Exhibit and Sale
Rogers Art Guild is holding an art exhibition through Nov. 11 at the Rogers Public Library, 711 S. Dixieland Road. Exhibit hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A portion of the proceeds from the art sale go to the Rogers Art Guild High School Scholarship fund for a Rogers High School student and Heritage High School student. A painting will be raffled at this exhibit to raise funds for the two scholarships.
An open house reception “Meet the Artists” will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7.

Eagle Watch Cruises
Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area’s pristine shoreline is ideal for viewing the great Bald Eagle. According to Natalie Casey, park interpreter, “We will investigate for signs of these majestic birds of prey as we tour the Van Winkle Arm, one of the last undeveloped areas of Beaver Lake.”
The first kick off tour will be held at 9 a.m. Nov. 4 with Alan Bland and Casey as your guides. Tours will continue through February. Tours cost is $10 per adult and $5 per child (6-12). Pre-registration is required. Tickets must be purchased at the Hobbs State Park visitor center front desk or call 789-5000. All tours depart from Rocky Branch Recreation Area.
‘Broadway Bound’ comes to RLT
“Broadway Bound,” the third play in Neil Simon’s autobiographical trilogy, will be presented Nov. 6-8 and Nov. 12-15 at The Victory Theater in downtown Rogers. Picking up where “Brighton Beach Memoirs” and “Biloxi Blues” left off, we find Eugene and his older brother, Stanley, trying to break into the world of professional comedy writing.
Three members of the “Brighton Beach Memoirs” cast are returning: Mary Eilene Ameigh as the mother, Casey Cotton as her sister and Guy Martin as Eugene.
Veteran northwest Arkansas actor John Ford plays the father, and John Mixon and Dennis Boyer play Eugene’s brother and his grandfather, Ben, respectively.
“It’s a dynamite cast,” said Kaye Cotton, director.
“The script brings to a close the story of the young Neil Simon and his close-knit family.”
Mandy Finley, Kevin Lancaster and Jim Olmstead round out the technical crew as assistant director, lighting and sound designer, and set design and construction chief, respectively.
Dinner theater tickets are $42 (catering by Pfeffer’s).
Balcony seating is $17 for adults and $9.50 for students. Show begins at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and at 2 p.m. on Sundays.
Dinner begins one hour before the show begins.

Cabaret returns to NWACC
The Flying Tomato Cabaret returns to the campus of Northwest Arkansas Community College beginning on Nov. 6 this fall. The show will run Nov. 6, 7, 8 and 13, 14, 15 with shows at 7 p.m.
each evening in the college’s Shewmaker Center.
The event is the twiceyearly fundraiser of the NWACC Chamber Singers, the school’s select vocal ensemble. Funds raised from the show pay for annual tours by the singers.
At the Cabaret, members of the NWACC Chamber Singers will serve as singing waiters, offering an evening of spaghetti and Broadway.
