— Alice Mae Banks

Alice Mae Banks, 78, of Springdale, Ark., died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born March 22, 1931, in St. Joseph, Mo., to Edward Elgin and EmmaIrene Busch Miller.

She was a homemaker and was co-owner and operator of Osage Tool and Die in Rogers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Arthur Banks, on Feb. 20, 1997; a brother, Louis Miller; and a sister, Wanda Rogers.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-inlaw, Stephanie Hyde and Randy Hyde, and Vicki Banks, all of Springdale, and Arlynda Williams and Danny Williams of Lowell, Ark.; two grandchildren, Jared Hyde and Jason Williams; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Bluff Cemetery with Rev.

Jim Huffman.

Arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale.

Kathrine Martha Cluck

Kathrine Martha Cluck, 92, of San Angelo, Texas, formally of Rogers, Ark., died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009. She was born March 4, 1917, in Fort Smith, Ark., to William J. Phillips and Susie Moore Phillips.

She was a homemaker.

She was of the Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed gardening, working with flowers, reading her Bible, going to church and her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Cluck Sr.; a granddaughter, Sandra Cluck; a brother, William Phillips Jr.; and three sisters, Alta Alstate, Edna Kelly and Sybil Patterson.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-inlaw, Tommy Cluck Jr. and Carolyn Cluck of Rogers, and Jessie Cluck and Fabby Cluck of Los Alamos, Colo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Gauwain and Randy Gauwain of San Angelo; a sister, Burle Colton of Van Buren, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and seven great-greatgrandchildren.

A service was held Monday, Nov. 2, at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Pea Ridge with Pastor Randy Gauwine.

Burial was at Ruddick Cemetery, near Garfield, Ark.

Arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge, Ark.

Connie Jo Easley

Connie Jo Easley, 58, of Garfield, Ark., died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at St.

John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, Mo. She was born Jan. 30, 1951, in Avoca, Ark., to Jesse Smith and Beulah Bertha Johnson Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Beulah Smith.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Douglas Easley; three daughtersand two sons-in-law, Cinthia Vlaovich and Dean Vlaovich of Rogers, Ark., and Gwendolyn Easley and Nathan Foster, and Teresa Easley, all of Avoca, Ark.; a sister, Goldie Ernst of Avoca; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Rollins Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Avoca, Ark. Arrangements were by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers, Ark.

Estela Espinoza

Estela Espinoza, 55, of Rogers, Ark., died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Ark. She was born April 19, 1954, in Mexico.

She worked at George’s.

She was a member of St.

Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers.

Survivors include her husband, Celedonio Espinoza; a son, Jose Espinoza of Mexico; a daughter, Julie Espinoza of California; a brother, Sylvester; and a grandchild.

A funeral Mass was held Thursday, Oct. 29, at St.

Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers with Father Salvador Vega. Arrangements were by Benton County Funeral Home in downtown Rogers.

Thelma Louise Hacker

Thelma Louise Hacker, 84, of Bentonville, Ark., died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Innisfree Nursing Center in Rogers, Ark. She was born Jan. 14, 1925, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Fred Reese and Orpha Hart Reese.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hacker; a sister, Freda Johnson; a son, David Hacker; and a grandson, Mark Hacker.

Survivors include a daughter, Maryland Salazar of Rogers, Ark.; three sons, Melvin Hacker of Bella Vista, Ark., the Rev. Joseph Hacker of Lowell, Ark., and Dean Hacker of Bentonville;

a brother, Fred H. Reese of Bella Vista; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 28, at God’s Lighthouse Church in Bentonville. Burial was at the Daniel Cemetery in Hiwasse, Ark. Arrangements were by Rollins Funeral Home Chapel in Rogers, Ark.

Kelly Jenine Hammond

Kelly Jenine Hammond, 49, of Rogers, Ark., died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale, Ark.

She was born June 12, 1960, in Tulsa, Okla., to LaDon Smith and Melinda Wilson.

She wanted to travel to many places and enjoyed watching scary movies.

She was preceded in death by her father, LaDon Smith.

Survivors include three daughters, Sarha Mathis of Oklahoma City, Okla., Kelly Lew Hammond of Lowell, Ark., and Samantha Elaine Hammond of Rogers; her mother, Melinda Smith of Bella Vista, Ark.;

her stepmother; Carole Smith of Rogers; three sisters, LaDonna Williams of Pea Ridge, Ark., Dana Van-House of Tulsa, Okla., and Regina Smith of Sapulpa, Okla.; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 24. Cremation arrangements were by Epting Funeral Home of Fayetteville, Ark.

Memorials may be made to a special account in the names of LaDonna Williams and Johnny Lee Smith at Arvest Bank.

William Richard ‘Dick’ Newcomb

William Richard “Dick” Newcomb, 80, of Rogers, Ark., died Sunday, Oct.

25, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice Care in Springdale, Ark. He was born Dec. 16, 1928, in Hollywood, Calif., to William Oren Newcomb and Julia Kinsman Newcomb.

He was a longtime resident of Rogers. He married Mary Sue Webb McDonald on Jan. 2, 1987, at Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers.

He worked as a contractor for Newcomb Wilson Inc.

He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Rogers and enjoyed singing in the church choir. He also enjoyed acting in Rogers Little Theater productions, living on Beaver Lake, snow skiing, fishing, photography and traveling.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Mary Sue McDonald-Newcomb; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim Newcomb and Thea Newcomb of Los Angeles, Calif., and Steve Newcomb and Kathy Newcomb of Reno, Nev.; two daughters, Susan Newcomb and Karen Newcomb, both of Los Angeles; a brother and sisterin-law, John Orlando Newcomb and Jan Newcombof Ketchum, Idaho; 14 grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the Benton County Memorial Park Cemetery in Rogers with the Rev. Richard Solberg. Arrangements were by the Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home of Rogers.

Danny Lee Smith

Danny Lee Smith, 56, of Rogers, Ark., died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale, Ark. He was born Feb. 2, 1953, to Elbert Smith and Ina Oxford Smith Driver.

He was preceded in death by his father; a brother; and a sister.

Survivors include three sons, Donny Smith, David Smith, and Jayce Smith; two daughters, Debbie Moore, and Willow Smith; his mother, Ina; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Monday, Nov. 2, at Rambo Cemetery.

Austa Iva Lee Spence

Austa Iva Lee Spence, 90, of Rogers, Ark., died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at New Hope Health and Rehab in Rogers. She was born Jan. 17, 1919, in Benton County, Ark., to Fred Franklin Bolain and Florence Irene Ruth McCurdy Bolain.

She lived in Benton County all her life. She did line work for Tyson Foods and Cargill. She was a member of the Downtown Church of Christ in Rogers.

She enjoyed sewing, embroidery and sitting outside in her swing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Spence, who died in 1977; a brother, Ivan Bolain; and a sister, Wanda Caffey.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Juanita Kaiser and Evert Kaiser of Bentonville, Ark.;

a sister, Evelyn Long of Springfield, Mo.; five grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren.

A service was held Monday, Nov. 2, at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Pea Ridge with James Lusby. Burial was at Pea Ridge Cemetery, Pea Ridge.

Robert E. Stannard

Robert E. Stannard, 92, of Rogers, Ark., died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at theCircle of Life Hospice Home in Springdale, Ark.

He was born Aug.

13, 1917, in KansasCity, Mo., to Albert Moore Stannard and Gertrude Jones Stannard.

He was an automotiveparts salesman for many years.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Robertson; and two brothers, William Stannard and Albert Stannard.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Jackson Stannard; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert K. Stannard and Angela Stannard of Phoenix, Ariz., Alan K. Stannard and Bobbie Stannard of Wellsville, Kan., and Jeff Stannard ofEl Dorado Springs, Mo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Anne S. Jeppesen and Klair Jeppesen of Phoenix;

a brother, John Stannard of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Mercado, Robert Stannard, Chris Stannard, Felicia Edwards and Joshua Stannard-Bulla; and five greatgrandchildren.

Cremation arrangements were by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.

Cynthia Stringer

Cynthia Stringer, 53, of Rogers, Ark., died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at Circle ofLife Hospice House in Springdale, Ark.

She was born Sept.

21, 1956, in Fort Scott, Kan., to GlenOscar Banwart and Ruth Doreen Ater Banwart.

She was a 1974 graduate of Fort Scott High School.

She graduated from Fort Scott Community College and the Mercy School of Nursing with a Registered Nurse degree. She married James Wesley Stringer on Sept. 24, 1976, at the Mount Orum Baptist Church in Redfield, Kan. She was a nurse in Fort Scott prior to moving to Rogers, where she worked as a nurse for St. Mary’s Hospital and the Boozman-Hof Regional Eye Clinic. She retired in 2001 because of health reasons.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Rogers. She enjoyed writing notes and letters of encouragement.

She was preceded in death by her father, Glen Oscar Banwart; and an infant brother, Jeffery Banwart.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Stringer; a son and daughter-in-law, Chris Stringer and Anndee Stringer of Rogers; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Kinnaman and Ryan Kinnaman of Siloam Springs, Ark.; her mother, Ruth Banwart of Fort Scott, Kan.; her fatherin-law and mother-in-law, Wayne Stringer and Marge Stringer of Fort Scott; twosisters, Glenda Miner of Springdale, Ark., and Sheila Whitley of Rogers; a granddaughter, Genna Stringer;

three nieces; and five nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 30, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Rogers with the Rev. Alan Johnson. Graveside services were held Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Mount Orum Cemetery near Redfield, Kan. Arrangements were by Cheney Witt Chapel of Fort Scott, Kan.

Memorials may be made to the Gideons or to Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale, Ark., in care of Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, KS 66701.

Daniel Lee Zierke

Daniel Lee Zierke, 60, of Rogers, Ark., died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers.

He was born Dec. 15, 1948, in Norfolk, Neb., to Rodell G. Zierke and Inez Swarm Zierke.

He worked as a truck driver for the construction business for many years.

He enjoyed fishing and gardening and could make anything grow. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Survivors include his companion, Karen Abbott;

three brothers, John Zierke and Jerry Zierke, both of Cody, Wyo., and Ronnie Zierke of Meadow Grove, Neb.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Lowe and Kenneth Lowe of Powell, Wyo., and Charlotte Tracy and Scott Tracy of Cody;

a stepson, Richard Abbottand wife Alison of Indiana; five stepdaughters, Michelle Couperthwaite and partner George Forgo, and Sheri Fargo and husband John, all of Bella Vista, Ark., Heather Black of Rogers, Julie Gagnon and husband Larry of Bangor, Maine, and Renee Abbott of Baltimore, Md.; nine grandchildren; and a greatgrandchild.

Cremation arrangements were by Stockdale Funeral Services of Rogers.
