— Christmas Parade

The 25th Annual Rogers Community Christmas Parade, a Main Street Rogers event, will wind its way through Rogers Historic District on Monday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. The parade theme is “A Dicken’s Christmas.” Interested participants must submit an entry form by Nov. 6 by 4 p.m. Download an application at the Main Street Rogers Web site www.mainstreetrogers.com, or pick one up from our 301.

Judges will review the entries and award four winners in the following categories: Spectacular Sparkles Award to the entry that presents an outstanding display of lights and/or other type of illumination. Elfin Magic Award to the outstanding entry featuring children as part of the entry. Glory of Angels Award to the outstanding entry that illustrates a religious theme. The overall outstanding entry that best illustrates the parade’s theme, “A Dicken’s Christmas,” will take home the Knock Your Stockings Off Award.

SPOTLIGHTHowl O Ween at Murphy Dog Park Murphy Dog Park will hold Howl O Ween at the dog park from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 31. There will be prizes for best costume, scariest concept, most creative costume and owner and pet costumes.

Big Wag Bakery will sell registration tickets and all early birds will receive a ticket for the prize drawing. Tickets may also be purchased at the gate on the day of the event. All tickets are $5.

Vendors in costume will set up and be stations for the trick and treaters where dogs can pick up everything from shampoo samples to dog cookies and toys.

The dog park is a non profit auxiliary of the Humane Society of Rogers. It is located at First and Nursery Road in East Rogers. For more information, call 631-9909.

Pickin’ in the Park The 11th annual Pickin’ in the Park series will be held through Oct. 24 every Saturday at 6 p.m. in Frisco Park. Bring your instrument and join in with live gospel, country and bluegrass music or just bring a lawn chair, sit a spell and enjoy a memorable Ozarks evening.

Acoustic instruments only.

No alcoholic beverages.

Farmers Market Rogers Farmers Market runs through Oct. 31 at Frisco Park. Featuring northwest Arkansas’ finest in fresh, locally grown vegetables and fruits, herbs, bedding plants, perennials, cut flowers and handicrafts. Wednesdays and Saturdays, May through October, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Mondays, June 1 through Aug. 31, 4 to 7 p.m. A Main Street Rogers event. Julie Wait Designs Gallery Julie Wait Designs Gallery in association with Poor Richard’s Art features photographs by John Murdoch Nov. 5 through Jan. 5. A “Beer and Salsa” artist reception will be held from 6 p.m.

to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20.

The gallery is located at 318 S. First in Rogers and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cabaret returns to NWACC The Flying Tomato Cabaret returns to the campus of Northwest Arkansas Community College beginning on Nov. 6 this fall. The show will run Nov. 6, 7, 8 and 13, 14, 15 with shows at 7 p.m.

each evening in the college’s Shewmaker Center.

The event is the twiceyearly fundraiser of the NWACC Chamber Singers, the school’s select vocal ensemble. Funds raised from the show pay for annual tours by the singers.

At the Cabaret, members of the NWACC Chamber Singers will serve as singing waiters, offering an evening of spaghetti and Broadway.

Tickets for the show are $15 and can be reserved at 619-4261 or by e-mail at scooper@nwacc.edu. No tickets are sold at the door.
