Chili supper planned

Little Flock Fire Department will host its annual Chili Supper from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Mathias Elementary School in Rogers. Tickets are being sold or bought at the door.

Pickin’ in the Park

The 11th annual Pickin’ in the Park series last event for the year will be Oct. 24 every Saturday at 6 p.m. in Frisco Park. Bring your instrument and join in with live gospel, country and bluegrass music or just bring a lawn chair, sit a spell and enjoy a memorable Ozarks evening. Acoustic instruments only. No alcoholic beverages.

Farmers Market

Rogers Farmers Market runs through Oct. 31 at Frisco Park. Featuring northwest Arkansas’ finest in fresh, locally grown vegetables and fruits, herbs, bedding plants, perennials, cut flowers and handicrafts. Wednesdays and Saturdays, May through October, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Mondays, June 1 through Aug. 31, 4 to 7 p.m. A Main Street Rogers event. Goblin Parade

The 25th annual Goblin Parade will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Oct. 30 in Rogers Historic District beginning in Frisco Park.

Main Street Rogers, in conjunction with downtown businesses, presents the annual Goblin Parade for the children of Rogers. Children in costume follow a planned route through downtown Rogers and “trick-or-treat” Historic District businesses along the way. Parents are encouraged to bring their small children for a fun way to celebrate Halloween. Safe and admission is free.

Howl O Ween at Murphy Dog Park

Murphy Dog Park will hold Howl O Ween at the dog park from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 31. There will be prizes for best costume, scariest concept, most creative costume and owner and pet costumes.

Big Wag Bakery will sell registration tickets and all early birds will receive a ticket for the prize drawing. Tickets may also be purchased at the gate on the day of the event. All tickets are $5.

Vendors in costume will set up and be stations for the trick and treaters where dogs can pick up everything from shampoo samples to dog cookies and toys.

The dog park is a non profit auxiliary of the Humane Society of Rogers. It is located at First and Nursery Road in East Rogers. For more information, call 631-9909.

Julie Wait Designs Gallery

Julie Wait Designs Gallery in association with Poor Richard’s Art features photographs by John Murdoch Nov. 5 through Jan. 5. A “Beer and Salsa” artist reception will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20.

The gallery is located at 318 S. First in Rogers and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday by appointment. NMILITARY OTES

Riley C. Cottingham

Army Pfc. Riley C. Cottingham has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.

Cottingham is the son of William Cottingham of Rogers and a 2009 graduate of Rogers High School. NBUSINESS OTES

Stitt, Lantz achieve Green designation

Stitt Energy Systems Inc. in Rogers recently announced that vice presidents David Stitt and Suzanne Lantz have earned the Certified Green Professional designation from the National Association of Home Builders.

The CGP designation recognizes Stitt and Lantz as building-industry professionals having knowledge of the best strategies for incorporating green building principles into home building. CLUBS

Friday Duplicate Bridge Club

Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society

The group will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at the Bentonville Public Library. Steve Chrychel, an Interpreter at Hobbs State Park since 1977, will present a program on Peter Van Winkle and the Van Winkle Mill.

“Broadway Bound,” the third play in Neil Simon’s autobiographical trilogy, will be presented Nov. 6-8 and Nov. 12-15 at The Victory Theater in downtown Rogers.

Dinner theater tickets are $42 (catering by Pfeffer’s). Balcony seating is $17 for adults and $9.50 for students. Show begins at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and at 2 p.m. on Sundays. Dinner begins one hour before the show begins.
