ROGERS After three football games, the Heritage War Eagles find themselves in the same position as last season- undefeated.
Junior quarterback Reed Brown completed 18 of 26 passes for 293 yards and four touchdowns and Heritage cruised past the Republic (Mo.) Tigers 35-7 on Friday night.
Zac Stewart rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries for the War Eagles (3-0), who led 21-0 at the half.
Travis Entwisle (6 rec., 100 yds.), Grant Driver (4-80), Jordan Snoderly (3-67) and Jeff Fruik (1-12) all caught a scoring pass from Brown, who now has 14 touchdown passes this season. The longest scoring play Friday went for 42 yards to Snoderly for a 7-0 lead.
Driver also had two interceptions, the first one in the end zone to turn the Tigers (1-3) away in the first quarter.
The victory gives the second-year program its second consecutive 3-0 start. A year ago Heritage had high hopes after starting the season with three straight victories - against the same three overmatched opponents it outscored 138-20 this season - but the reality of playing against 7A-West competition was a harsh one.
Playing with a roster of only sophomores and juniors, the War Eagles were pushed around in conference play, finishing 0-7.
A year older, this year's team expects better results, starting next week at Fort Smith Northside in the conference opener.
