Coaching slots available for Middle School League

— Rogers basketball teams, sponsored by the AAO, that will be playing in the new Northwest Arkansas Middle School Basketball League this fall and winter are looking for qualified individuals interested in coaching a boys' basketball team.

The Rogers teams will consist of a sixth- and a seventh-grade team from Kirksey Middle School and Elmwood Middle School.

Expectations of coaching qualifications are:

• A positive role model for the athletes of this age group;

• Have experience playing high school basketball or beyond;

• Expectations to learn and coach the Rogers High School basketball system and be trained through the AAO basketball clinics.

Mondays in Mudtown Mixed Senior League

USBC sanctioned, $5.95/wk includes lunch with a portion to be donated to the youth league scholarship fund. Starts Sept. 28 at 10:30 a.m.

Young at Heart Mixed Senior League

USBC sanctioned, $5.95/wk includes lunch with a portion to be donated to the youth league scholarship fund. Starts Oct. 6 at 1 p.m.

Cosmo's Youth Bowling League

USBC sanctioned. Youth Scholarship League for ages 4-19. Still accepting sign-ups. Saturday mornings at 9:30 a.m.

Family Fellowship Bowling League

Sunday afternoons at 4 p.m. Two-game mixed adult/youth league.

True Blue Tuesdays

The Rogers football team invites Mountie fans to True Blue Tuesdays, which offer an inside look to the program, the previous week's game and the upcoming opponents' scouting report. The meeting includes season stats, drawings for prizes, video highlights, injury reports, a Football 101 segment and announcement of the team's weekly awards.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the film room in the fieldhouse.

Bella Vista Women's League Championship

The Bella Vista Women's Golf Club is hosting its annual league championship Oct. 1-2. This tournament is open to golfers who have been a BVWGC member prior to July 1 or participated in at least ten (10) play day games during the current season.

U19 rugby tryouts

High school boys interested in learning and playing rugby football in the spring may sign up now for fall practice. The Benton County Blues U19s practice each Tuesday and Thursday evening at 5 p.m. at the First Street National Guard armory in Rogers. Fall practice will conclude on Nov. 21 with the annual scrimmage against JBU rugby club's 'B' side in Siloam Springs.

Nestle Waters Adult Doubles Classic

Pinnacle Country Club will host the Nestle Waters Adult Doubles Classic on Oct. 16-18.

The event will include men's and women's doubles (2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5+ divisions plus an open draw in the men's division) and mixed doubles (5.0, 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 and 9.0).

The entry fee is $50 per team and the deadline is Oct. 13.

Arkansas Sting seeks players

Arkansas Sting, an affiliate of Arkansas Scorpions baseball team, is seeking a few players for the 2010 season. Strong pitching and high-level competitive baseball experience a plus. Players can't be 14 before May 1, 2010. The Arkansas Sting will be the 13 AAA team of the 13 Majors Arkansas Scorpions.
