Hame's six birdies, 68 lead Rogers to ' threepeat'

— For the third year in a row, the best golfer and best golf team reside at Rogers High School.

Slade Hames, a senior, shot a 4-under-par 68 to lead the Mountaineers to a comfortable win Friday at the 7A-West Conference Golf Championships at Bella Vista Country Club.

Hames' round includedsix birdies and was the only sub-par round of the tournament. He bested Zach Coats of Springdale Har-Ber by four shots and Drew Comer of Fort Smith Southside by six.

Rogers junior Jes Sanders, medalist the last two seasons, shot 77. Grant Washburn and Patrick Holt each shot 81 to round out the Mounties' score.

Rogers' team score of 307 was well in front of Bentonville (326) and Fayetteville(348), giving the Mounties their third consecutive conference crown. Rogers Heritage was seventh with a 357.

The top four teams plus the seven highest individual finishers advance to the state tournament scheduled Oct. 6 at Hardscrabble Country Club in Fort Smith.

Heritage was led by Chas Goines with a 83 followed by Jack McMillan (90), Jared Gilstrap (92) and TaylorGoines (93) Girls The Fayetteville girls cruised to a seventh straight conference title.

Rogers' top three scores were from Kelly Lees (122), Morgan Conway (127), Bailey Anderson (142).

Heritage's top three scores were from Sara Reidy (123), Victoria Crawford (130) and Destiney Phillips (143).
